I'm with you - I was just regurgitating the reason most people give. That was the main reason I had for finding a 4 speed for mine - 1st on teh 3 was just too high and you had to a) work the gas all the time to keep it from stalling, whereas you can just let the clutch out to move with the granny, and b) when I did get going, it was way too fast, and I couldn't just idle along. Stop, go, stop, go.
Now i'm confised. You looking for a auto or differant manual for the 73??
I have a T-??(I forget) 4 speed fresh out of my 68. Reverse is where 1st should be.
I got a C6 to put in its place that just needs probably a couple gallons of water taken out of it and a rebuild. Well I had a few gallons come out of one of the 360's I picked up and can't remember if it was the one attached to the C6 or not.
Het C4 why not make a deal with the insurance company to pull the manual tranny and linkage. Then you can get a basic explorer and change out the auto.
Unless that got trashed in the accident.
your going to need the whole truck because these newfangled computers are involved and you would need wiring and the computer as well.
