I have a '90 302 with 120k on it that empties its coolant resevoir after about a week. This has been going on for a few months and I recently noticed coolant on the drivers side cylinder head where it meets the intake manifold. Although the leak appears to be only up front I don't think it is the water pump because that was replaced 20k ago. There isn't any coolant flowing through the intake manifold is there? I'm assuming it is the head gasket but I could be wrong. Any opinoins?
302 has a wet manifold; you will notice the upper radiator hose connects to the intake manifold on the front, which is where the thermostat sits. So yes, coolant flows through it.
before doing manifold,gasket,ck all hoses, thero housing,for leaks. thottle body,coolant leaks.........etc. some are very hard to see. hope this helps.........
