Questions??
Hi, im new to this forum... i own a ford focus an have fixed it up pretty much, but im looking for a new project. Since im a huge fan of fords i want a ford truck... i have always loved the body style of the 56 ford f100. i dont have enough money for one yet but now for some questions
where would be the best place to find one to restore?
(i know some people may try to turn me against this but we did alot of restoration to my dads mustang an i would love to on a truck)
i live in PA an would like to find a junkyard or some place around here that someone else may have gone to, an found old ford trucks for sale there?
i will probably be on here very much when i get the truck which i hope will be in a few months?
thanks and sorry if this is not in the right spot

Welcome to FTE FoFoFan24, good to have you join us.
Take a look at the classifieds on this site, also you might watch Ebay, craigslist in your area or other auto sale publications. There are both restorers and customizers on this site so you get a variety of opinions. I, myself am a darksider (customizer). I like the modern conveniences in the old trucks. It will be your truck so please yourself. When you are able to purchase your truck be sure to set up a gallery so we can all see what you have.

Fofo,
Another thing you might try is just saying here what you are looking for and how far you can travel to look at a prospect.
Are you looking for a driver? One you could enjoy while you get your thoughts and finances together.
Are you just looking for a solid cab, frame, and title?
Let us know you might be suprised.

Welcome to FTE. You don't need to already have a truck to hang out here, so sit back, stay a while, and ask questions anyway. Finding a truck shouldn't be too hard. Talking the price down to your level might take a little more work, though, lol.
Look for something from the west for less rust repair. Trucks in the great lakes area are mostly rust buckets due to all the salt used on the roads.

I had some buddies in other states who were on the road a lot and asked them to look out for me. I also asked anyone I knew if they had any ideas who would have a 48 F-1. At my high school reunion several of us like old cars and everything mechanical. One friend told me about a buddy of his that had old trucks in Atlanta GA. I called him and he referred me to a buddy of his who had just what I was looking for. I went down and picked it up and was well pleased. Just put out the word and be patient. Good luck.
It's been said many times before but it bears repeating: Restoring (or hot rodding) any old truck is going to cost about the same amount of money in total by the time it is finished, no matter what the starting condition or original cost. A cheaper/poorer condition start will take a lot longer and a lot more work and parts chasing than a more expensive better condition one. As the old commercial so aptly stated, "you can pay me now or pay me later..." The sheetmetal and small parts (especially on a full resto) are the most expensive and time consuming to find/repair. You will be many dollar and years of work ahead to save more money and buy a solid complete truck than to drag home a stripped out local rust bucket. PA is probably the WORST place in the country to go looking for your project starter, 50 years of salt/ice/snow/rain takes a serious toll there.
Even tho I live in NC, with it's much milder weather, I went all the way to NM to purchase Gracie. Getting a totally rust free body made the effort and up front cost well worth it! Nothing more discouraging than finding out that the entire body is nothing more than bondo and iron oxide lace curtains. I have seen a number of solid looking and claimed rust free unmolested trucks on ebay going for $3-8K depending on if they run and drive or not. They would be a much better investment even if you have to pay to haul it across the country.
