Hi all, my 2000 Navi has the A/C and Heated seats but it seems as if the seats do not heat up as much as they should. My friends have other vehicles with heated seats(typical hi/lo only) but their "hi" will burn you up in no time. i can put my heat on "5" and it is only warm, not the hot that i experience in my friend's vehicles. I blew the filters out with an air hose but didn't really help. any ideas? thanks
I have the same application as yours. The standard heated only seats use a resistive element that heats up quickly. Our application uses a fan to blow either heated or cooled air, which is generated by a Thermo -Electric device (or TED) through a series of ductwork in the foam of the seats and out through the seat covers.
The duct work in the seat foam collapses and prevents the flow of air. The fix is replacement of the seat foam.
Also, I spent several hours with my Ford technician taking apart my seats when we did this. It would seem that any setting above three makes no difference in the fan speed. If you are in the cabin, with he key on but engine off, you can hear a relay that clicks when you move the rolling switch from 0 to 1. You can hear the fan speed increase between 1-2 and 2-3 but nothing more beyond 3.
Oh, I was trying to figure my heated seats out in my 99 Expy, my 01 F150 had a button to push and had a element, also was a King Ranch interior, so mine came w/ the heated seats and I was looking for a switch!
