Question Brake Pull

OK, if the vehicle pulls left when braking, which brake is grabbing? Left front? Can a misadjusted rear brake make it pull when braking ? I had left fron wheel cylinder blow out on me last week and every since I replaced it, it has pulled left. I adjusted both front brakes the same and , I cleaned the brake shoes with brake cleaner as well as the inside of the drum. Maybe it is residual brake fluid on the shoes causing the pull ?

It Could Be But Most Likely It Is Caused By The Right Wheel Cylinder Is Not Holding As Mutch Pressure Or Not Expanding As Far Or As Quick It Is Always Best To Treat Both Sides Of One Axle As One Braking System .
And What Ever You Change On One Side Do The Same Thing On The Other Side Paul

I agree with Paul; but also question did you bleed all lines after replacing the cylinder?
I do this after any work on my brake's; when I change out anything dealing with fliud lines.
Just a thought; it could be the reason; but I would place my bet on Puals answer..

Yes, I bled all of the brakes properly. Both front wheel cylinders were replaced recently but for some reason, the left one started leaking.

I am currently suffering from the exact same problem. I will let you know if I figure anything out. My rear right backing plate is a different size than the rest of them, so I am going to change that and see if it makes a difference. Also, let me know if you know how to figure out how to test the wheel cylinders. thanks!

Check your soft rubber lines. If they are still on there from ??? years ago the interior will swell shut/restrict to cause the pull. The ones I had on my 64 were so bad I had to use a drill and a coat hanger to be able to push fluid through them. My neighbors 66 is doing the same thing as well now. I bought everything from drums to soft lines to replace his entire system for $335 at Kragen. If you like to go to the store print off the internet shopping list and take it in there with you. The front wheel cylinders on his truck are listed as $53.99 but on the net they are $14.99. Huge difference but worth the extra 30 minutes to put the list together.

Killer they sell a brake pressure gauge that you install in the bleed port. It will tell you how much pressure you have at each wheel to balance it all out. Not cheap but it is very accurate.

I had the same problem.

All I did was jack the truck up, crawl in there, and turn each wheel to see which one was tight against the brake. The left one was pretty tight, so I just loosened up the pads through that little wheel in the backing plate. Then I dropped the truck, took it for a spin, and I was able to take my hands off the wheel and the truck braked to a stop in a straight line. It was great.

I have the same issue - Pulls hard to the left when braking. I'm almost afraid to drive it around until I get it fixed. I want to go through the entire brake system before I start driving it around (just got my slick a month ago). The E-brake doesn't work very well either; barely holds still on a slight grade. It would be nice to at least have that working in case the brakes totally take a dump on me...Any one got any other tips or things to look for?
