How much methanol does it take to make 100 gals of Bio Diesel?

 

I think somewhere around 5 gallons if I remember correctly. I had some friends that did this for their college senior project. You can also recover most of the methanol if you make yourself a still-which a modified hot water heater works pretty good.

 

20% by volume IE: 20 gallons of MeOH per 100 gallons of oil.
