Thanks guys for all the feedback, i am sending the block to the machine shop next week, so as soon as i get the specs back from them along with the block i can start ordering my over sized pistons and the rest of my engine rebuild components. I will post pics of my project as i have in the past.
I agree with everybody else - one thing at a time. My truck was already in pieces when I got it, but appeared mostly complete. It really was, but I keep running into things that WEREN'T there, that there's no way of knowing, until I try to find it. Things like speedo cable, throttle linkage, carb (ok, I DID know that was gone!), and miscellaneous things. Not to mention the things I've had to take off, then can't remember where I put them. It's coming back together fairly quickly, but I bought a rebuilt motor, instead of doing mine, and just rebuilt the tranny and parking brake and water pumps. Now, the parts are going back on the engine, but it's still slow, because everything is "take apart, inspect, fix as needed, re-install"...but, it's a labor of love, and all the guys here on the forums have made it all possible!
Good luck with your project - keep us well informed!
Oh yeah, LOVE to see the "Supporter" behind your name!! That was one of the first things I did, too, after the very first help I received here. I wish EVERYone would stop, and take the time to pitch in $20 to the site. It's really a great thing, and worth every penny, EVERY day!
I agree with the sentiments posted here - taking the time to finish things along the way will help keep you motivated (milestones), just seeing that rebuilt/clean/painted motor sitting there will help you want to work on the next steps. That is opposed to just tearing everything apart, becoming overwhelmed (a feeling I have had in builds in the past) and wondering what did I get my self into...
