99% of the time i remember to unplug my boat trailer plug before i dump the boat in the water. last weekend i didnt di that. so since that day, i have no trailer lights. i pull out the ford manual and see that it is fuse #2 10 amp. i pull that fuse and i see that its blown, im like thank god easy fix. i put new fuse in, turn on the lights and pop goes the fuse. i reconnected the trailer wires to make sure its not that, and get the same thing, i used a 15 amp fuse, same thing happens.
so i have no trailer lights and a fuse pops every time, what can it be??
LOL! I read the title "need help blowing fuses" and thought I'd stop by to help. I'm real good at blowing fuses!!
Check ur pinch points. Other than that, I suppose that it's possible you've got a couple of bare wires too close together and the water is acting as a conductor.
If the truck is blowing the fuse without the trailer connected, the trailer is not the problem. I am going to assume that you are talking about the trailer running lights. I would trace this circuit back from the trailer connector by opening the connector on the truck, and examining it as it probably was underwater, and go from there. There are wiring connectors in the wiring to the back of the truck that can be disconnected to isolate the section that is giving you the problem. jd
yeah its trailer lights, my manual says #2 fuse spot is trailer lights. the fuse blows when the lights are turned on when the trailer is connected. ive never had a problem, all of a sudden i drop the trailer into the water while still connected and the trailer lights are on, i havent had lights since that day. truck taillights are fine. only pops when trailer is connected, when i turn the lights on.
and ill add that the 4 flat pin doesnt come in contact with the water, i dont have to drive in the water that far to unload the boat.

They make waterproof/submersable trailer lights for boat trailers. If you don't have these, you probably should. It would save you a great deal of hassle. You'd also have to waterproof all of the wires going to the lights, probably with heat shrink tubing.
If you already have waterproof or submersabe lights, then one of them might be broken.
...or you have a direct short to ground somewhere in the trailer wiring, must likely at or near the light fixtures themselves. Remove the plug from the truck, and the bulbs and use an OHMETER to test between the center pin (where the center of the bulb sits in the socket) and a GOOD ground point. The meter SHOULD not move if it is a needle type or should read infinety if digital. If it shows a short, you'll have to keep tracing back towards the plug and find the short.
i bought another set of trailer wires and ran them down the trailer, didnt want to spend a bunch of time trying to find out where there was a short.......at the same time i was like hmmmm...anual maitenance time as well. first time i did it, ive paid to have it done the last couple of years.
impeller, thermostat, fuel filter, lower end gear oil, spark plugs, and shes running beautiful
