Just bought two sets of Memphis Pro 5x7s for my '98 F150 and was wondering if any of y'all are using them and how well you like them? The local audio shop only sells memphis and powerbass, so i had limited selection. I have a Eclipse head unit that will be powering the speakers. I will also be installing my Memphis MoJo 12" sub in a ported box with a 1800w Xplod amp. I had the sub in a box that was too small so i'm looking forward to the new ported box, which is built by memphis for the mojo sub.
Ive had mostly good expierence's with memphis. Ive only delt with subs and amps though. I did have an amp mysteriuosly quite working on me one day. Quite odd, actually, never did figure out why it cut out. But its not the first amp ive toasted either. Has been my last though. Subs have all worked well for me and actually i still have a memphis 15, had it for about 2 years now. It sounds pretty good. Needs new box though, rattled last one to pieces basically.
I only run memphis equipment where I can, and I love em'.
I got 5x7 components and 6x9's in my crown vic, along with a 15" sub with 3000rms feeding it from two mc1500d mono amps and a mc3004 four channel amp feeding the comps and 6x9's.
The sound is amazing. The 6x9's are the m class, and the 5x7's are the studio reference, and the sub is the M3MAX15Q aka 'The Mad Max Mojo'. The signal comes from a Clarion deck.
I'm in the middle of putting a system together in my f250 super crew, and trying to figue out how to get an 18" sub in it and still keep room to comfortably seat four adults
To answer your question again, I recommend memphis to anyone that wants a quality product without paying an arm and a leg like you would for JL, Zapco, or any other high end, mainstream product.
But, it's your ears. Everyones' ear hears something different, and likes something slightly different.
i've alot of their stuff and its fairly nice. i am currently using there PR 5x7's in the rear which sound great! not the amount of mid-bass a 5x7 should produce but the tweeter sounds good though.
the PR amps are cool too, but the 4 channel isn't the cleanest 4 channel i've ever bought though.
