its been bored .60 over and has a bottom in cam headers new crank and stuff heads have been redone 2bbl carb atm hopeful going to 4bbl soon also what size 4bbl carb should i go with c4 tranny stock as far as i know and a 3:73 rear end thats it i would like any tips or anything to help me push more hp out of it also is it worth bolting 351w heads up to it ? thanks for reading and posting
72302; Welcome aboard; I'm no expert on engine; I recommend posting your question under the engine forum; there's a large range of folks there that are small block fanatic's. I have a 76 model install in my 65 truck; I posted all the engine data in my gallery pic's; my mechanic stated I was running about 375 hp at block; I would beleive 325 hp at block to be more realistic.
That 2 barrel is hurting ya for sure. Im no expert, but for a 60 over 302, fresh bottom end, fresh stock heads im guessing, and headers, with 2 barrel carb, in the neighborhood of 250-300ish. The 4 barrel should wake it up for you a bit, say 50 hp or so.
I had a 302 in my '80 Versailles, if I remember right, the hp was more in the 200 range. But my buddies Boss 302 was in the 300+ range, give or take a few.
thanks alot guy for the help and stuff jw is it worth put a 750 on it my friend has one that was just rebuilt or just buy lets say a 500-600cfm 4bbl
500-600 is a better choice unless you are using it for racing. A 750 is dumping raw gas out on the street, just look at the sootie pipes and sniff it when it's running. IMHO
