I have a 2006 F350, bought brand new from local dealer. Noticed an oil leak within 400 miles, took it in they changed some seals, gaskets, etc.. still leaked. They ran a bunch of die tests still leaks. Last time they did repairs they moved my downpipe and it was hitting the heat sheild making an awful vibration, they said oh no we didnt move it, which I know they did. Anyway, it just went in for the fourth time for the same exact leak. Truck now has 19000 miles on it. If the leak doesnt get fixed this time what should I do, or is there anything I can do. Im starting to think that maybe something is warped or not right with the motor or they would have fixed it by now. Any advice????
In michigan i think its three of the same reoccurring problems qualifies your truck for the lemon law... Not sure thought, thats what i have hear around town! If you have had the same oil leak serviced 4 times that ought be enough for SOMETHING (new truck, extended warranty, refund)
I have also heard the three time with the same problem and they cant fix it in the lemon law. I would contact an attorney for some free advice. One with experience in lemon law in your state.
Mine is leaking again as well. Wet bell housing after it sat in the shop for 4 days just two short weeks ago. This will be the forth time under 34,000 miles and 2nd stealership. And over 20 days without my truck. It would be nice to know we had some legal ground to stand on.
Probably not what you want to hear, but everything mentioned so far is a big waste of time. With the exception of going to another dealer, one with better techs. I was in a similar postion with my 03, in early 04, took it to a different dealership, receipt for 1 set of fuel filters, and 3 days later it was fixed. No charge.
In your Ford Dealers book there is a # for a Dispute Settlement Board try giving them a call , they helped us and took our 01 F-350 under the Lemon Law . Good Luck keep us updated
I worked at a Ford dealership as a truck mgr and know the ropes...call customer service and tell them the true story and see what they recommend...You should also look for a high quality dealer who has diesel certified techs with a quality rep...Come on.. it can be fixed correctly by someone who knows what they are doing!
Call Ford and file a complaint
They probably just didn't want to help Ryan because he works for big oil.....
No they were dumb enough to show me some really bad digital pictures. Which in turn went right down to the local IH truck dealer. Talked to the VT tech and he gave me the lowdown on IH's troubleshooting guidelines for injectors.
Just talked to the dealer today. They said that it is leaking from the bedplate, and that they need to completly remove the engine and flip it upside down to work on it , 30hr job they say. This is turning into a freaking nightmare. I dont see how, if they ran a dye test the very first time i took it in for this problem, that they didnt get it fixed. Remember this is the fourth time in for oil on the bell housing.BS!!!
