Has any one ever used them before? I have a realy tight steering box. What would I find them on? I thought about racks but after seeing some comment on here i decided rather not take the risk.
In my opinion the steering assist is just another band-aid. But if you want to explore that route both Ford and Chevy used them for many years starting in the mid 50's. I think Chevy even used them up into the early 80's on the Vette's but I'm not sure.
I'm not for sure exactly what makes and models Ford used them on. I had the steering assist system on a 1975 Ford F-150 4x4.
I think GM started with the assist system in the 56 or 57 on the full sized cars.
I don't know about other manufacturs but I'm sure there are others that have toyed with the idea
Maybe you could clarify-are you referring to the Ram assist power steering,or the steering stabilizer they claim helps eliminate Bump Steer?I was the one who recently posted about the steering stabilizer, and the general consensus is that they aren't very effective.Steve.
