door lock actuator

does anyone know how to change the door lock actuator in a 2 doors 99 ford explorer? ive looked down in there and i have no idea how they get those things in there uless they were put there when the door was made, but i dont think it was becasue the door metal matches the paint of the car.

thanks in advanced

Here's how I did mine...Drill out the rivet that holds the actuator to the door and remove the actuator and rod, make note of how and where the rod attaches! Take the new actuator and take the mount off. JBweld a nut to the inside to hold it in place while you install it. After the JBweld dries put it back on the actuator and install it in the door securing it with a bolt wher the rivet used to be. Make sure your bolt is long enough to attach it but not screw into the actuator. Select the right length rod and put it all together.

hope this helps
