I'm planning on swapping out my steering box this weekend. And would like to know how many of you have swapped yours out. Did you find it difficult? easy ? Any suggestions or feedback would be helpfull !
Another question is when they rebuild the gear box . Do they set it center? Anybody have any knowledge of this?
My truck is an 01 , CC , 7.3 , 4X4 , shortbed , 35 " tires , and 94,000 miles.
Thanks in advance for any and all feedback. Pete
afinepoint just did it. Read through the thread. It looks like you should be aware that you will need to work the air out of the system when your done with the swap.
I just did mine not to long ago. It's not that hard. Make sure that when you remove it you take the pittman arm off as well, because you can't tighten it without it being off the truck. It gets torqued to about 170 ft/lbs. It is easier with someone helping you, but can be done by one person.
