I am planning on going to be buying a replacement Holley 1 BBL carb for the 56 and a buddy of mine said that since the work we got done on the engine it might not be big enough for it. The engine is a 223 I6 bore .30 over, head milled, and some other things done, but those two are my main concern.
I suppose we'd need to know what the "other things done" were and what kind of driving you hand in mind. Was the head milled specifically to increase compression or to just get the surface proper ?
If it isn't too far from stock you should be OK. If you've modified the exhaust and increased your Cam's lift/duration, you might need to play with the Jet or consider something larger in CFM.
the head was milled just to get the surface proper, and some other things were new intake/exhaust valves, lifers, pistons, springs, cam shaft, nothing was done to increase performance, other than the bore over, beacause it needed it. It has the original manifold and dual exhaust.
I don't think you will have any problem, follow eman92082's advice and watch the sparkplugs, during break-in,the sparkplugs will be your best indicator of a complete combustion cycle.
