uh oh WATER!

I did the 400 rebuild with the 351c heads with spacer plates.. well ill cut to the problem. I thought i sealed it all good used some awesome gasket maker sealer type deal and lined every mating serface with it and made sure i had plunty of acesses. Well i was wroung i had tons of openings enough so that water could enter my engine. The heads on top are rusting a little bit and i just dumpt over 3 cups of water out of the oil pan. I think the motor is done just aheads up to everyone this is a major pitfall so watch out gonna have to get it rebuilt AGIAN

Well as you take it apart look for where the water is coming from. maybe you put you head gaskets on backwards or you may have missed something simple.A little water won't hurt the bearings Antifreeze on the other hand will. Pull it down clean everything up it maybe just a cracked head . easy to fix . Think Positive .....

Keep in mind there are no water passages in the intake manifold. Chances are good you have a head gasket orhead bolt torque problem. Some gaskets require retorque after breakin. I always use Perma Torques

well the machine shop gave me some of those spacer plates so i use 351c intake manifold on my 400. The plates where wroung becuase after closer inspection there was a gap to let water under into the vally pan and under that to the top of the motor where it rusted out a lifter or 3 and some ofthe rods also. and it just went threw all the oil passaged to the bottom im not going to risk just sayin hell with it ill just fire it up. Im goin to pull it back apart to make sure nothing major is rusted up. Kinda ticks me off cause the machine shop should have oiled the snot out of the motor so i thought there is not a drop of assembly lube or oil ANYWHERE its dry i thought that new motors where gummed in oil or lube or something well so it goes hopefully soon it will be runnin and next time the truck or car that the new motor is going in will be put in inside so no chance of rain can get to it

yeah thats the problem it isnt just a little water its a LOT like serious 3 4 coffe cup full under the intake manifold and over the bally pan i took the pan off and under that was another cup full and rust on my lifters and some push rods... and another 4-5 cup full of water in the oil pan so it hast to come apart but you live and learn im still looking postive to my motor but im just going to miss the mud run this year and ill plan for next ill ahve another full year to break the motor in and add more go-fast parts
