Well a few days ago my "better half" forgot to plug the truck in. It was damn cold (-36C, -33F). I herd her start it from inside the house as it sounded pretty rough (as you can imagine) Before I could run outside and get her to shut it down she was off down the driveway...."mmmmm" I thought
Later that day I got a phone call saying the check engine light was on...great.... I told her to take it to the dealer and get them to pull the codes. The pulled P0113 IAT Circuit high, P132B (erg) Turbo boost control, P2285 ICP sensor circuit low.
Anyway they cleared the codes and all was well for a couple of days.
Today the check engine light has come on again - haven't been to the dealer yet so i dunno what the code is - prior to this the truck has been running like a dream - what could have she done ?
The night after she started it cold I changed the oil and all the filters. It's a 2004 F-350 Auto, (2003 engine). It's used to haul so i wouldn't have thought the EGR or turbo would be too gunked up....
she didnt doanything. thousands of these trucks get started ant below zero alwintr long with no problems. does the truck know a woman turned the key? i dont think so. its - 3 here in up-state ny and i need the truck in the morning. it isnt plugged in and it will start and il do what i have to do mine is an 04 and i have never plugged it in ever. just a waste of electricity.
True - the truck doesn't care who turns the key - but the diff between -3 (which I would class as a hot day!) and -36 is considerable I think....oil tends not to flow well at those kinds of temperatures no matter what it is. I was concerned with things like the HPOP may not be able to bleed off enough pressure with the oil being so think, ICP diaphragm might crack etc...
I would wait and see which one of the codes came back and then try and figure it out. The P132B I could not find. The intake air temp sensor may have been affected by the cold or the Injector pressure. Which could lead to the IPR, or the ICP or HPOP. The fact that it is still starting and running ok would lead me to believe that the actual injector pressure is ok and could be the ICP. But wait and see which code it is because for now it is just speculation.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah I figure I'll really have to wait until I find out what code it's throwing... Interesting if you clear the code (ie pull the battery for 10 mins do the gearbox, turbo relearn etc, etc) the cel will go off. It will come back on the 3rd time you start the truck. I've done this multiple times and each time it's the third time the truck starts. It's kinda funny as I drove the truck for several hours after a clear of the KAM and it didn't throw any codes.... Anyway I'll just have to keep checking the mail until my code reader arrives!
