Hi all, am looking for info from anyone who has used 2v heads in place of 4v. Presently running 351c with the tight 4v heads in my 56 Mercury pickup. Just blew a head gasket and this is perfect time to swap to a set of 2v heads. But, because of the front end i am running i have the 4v exhaust manifolds instead of headers, (haven't been able to get a header to fit in the engine compartment). Will the 4v exhaust manifolds seal up on the 2v heads? I realize there is a port size mismatch but i am going this way because 1) i don't have any 2v exhaust manifolds, 2) I have finally got the 2.5 inch exhaust piping routed and sealed up to my satisfaction. Will they physically seal and not leak? Have gotten more good info from this site than anywhere else. Thanks all! pops
US 2V heads will most likely leak at the right side of the port with the 4V manifolds. Aussie 302C heads have a wider flange in that area. You may wan't to check with Sanderson. They make an adapter to use their 4V headers on 2V heads.

Considering 2v exhaust manifolds are dirt cheap anyhow, and would be a better match, I would suggest you just buy a set from a wrecker.
In my Performance Ford book there is an example motor buildup where 4v exhaust manifolds were bolted onto 2v heads on a 400. The bolt patterns etc are the same, but I have heard that some exhaust gas may be able to escape; ie conflicting stories. my suggestion is bolt them up and see for yourself.
