HELP!!! WHITE SMOKE!!!

Ok guys here's one I just can't figure out. Today I swapped my stockie manifold for an Edelbrock Peformer 400. It all went together fine and I had a hard time timing it. I forgot to plug the vacuum line and so when I set it to 10* BTDC it really acted gutless when I drove it over to my dads. I feared that my manifold was at fault but my dad quickly knew exactly what I had done wrong. SO we fixed the timing and I took it around the block, and the power was definitely restored! However when I returned, I noticed my exhaust was putting out white smoke. I checked my oil for water and my father said that oil burning doesn't produce white smoke. Now he said I should drive it because he thinks that all the hydrocarbons inside my exhaust are burning out because it has been run quite rich for a fair length of time. I would say that the problem is in the manifold except when I had it timed incorrectly, it wasn't doing the white smoke thing. This leads me to believe that my mixture is incorrect but I am a teenage kid and I really don't have the experience to know. So what do you guys think it is? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With it running OUTSIDE sniff the 'smoke'. Does it small like gas or does it small like antifreeze? If it is gas, it's too rich at idle. If it is antifreeze it is a blown headgasket, cracked head, or cracked block.

HELP!!! WHITE SMOKE!!!

See I did something that I have been told more than once not to do. When I swapped the manifolds, I reused the bathtub gasket. What I think is happening is my water jackets are leaking into my intake ports. I did reapply silicone to it but apparently that didn't do it. So now I have to buy another one. Just goes to show that taking the time to go to the parts store is much shorter than taking an intake off just to put a new gasket on it. I'll make sure I do it right the first time, next time.

HELP!!! WHITE SMOKE!!!

There are no water passages in the intake manifold or that are exposed when it is off. How much smoke are you getting? If it hasn't run in a while you might have condensation in the oil that is burning off through the PCV. Could also be tranny fluid if you have an auto coming through a crack in the modulator valve up to the intake manifold sorce.
