Hello, for my 1981 Ford Truck Bronco, with the 351M and only 44500 miles, what oil brand and viscosity you suggest?
Early i was using Mobil 20W50 mineral oil with very good results, but it looks me some excesive viscosity for here (the oil pressure needle sits on top once you start the engine and stays always there until you turn off the engine).
Now, since here in Spain Mobil oil is not longer available, i put BP oil 0w30 fully sinthetic. Now the pressure needle lows a bit whe the engine catch normal operating temp, it always stays on the middle of the normal range or above. The operating temp looks a bit higher, but only a bit. With the Mobil 20W50 says always on the "N" or beneath "N" of "NORMAL" in the temp gauge, now with the BP sinthetic the needle reach "O" and even "R" of "NORMAL" .
What is your opinion?
Thanks!
I like synthetics but I also favor a heavy oil, especially in a hot climate. 15 or 20w50 syntec works well for me year round. It's thick enough to protect the engine in the summer and slick enough to flow good in cold weather.
For Dyno oils I prefer 10w40/20w50.
