Hey all, I was wondering if any of you had suggestions for storing my motor while I am doing resto work to my 78' F-150. I rebuilt the motor about a year ago and runs great, but now that I have a big enough garage to work in now, I want to start working on the body and frame, so I plan on pulling the motor and storing it until I am ready to put it back in.
Any body have any sugestions or recomendations on how to keep the motor. I heard once from someone that some people fill the cylinders with oil so that the pistons and cylinders don't start to rust. I could concive the idea, if I was putting it in storage for 20 years, but I am only looking to have it out maybe 2 or 3 years tops. Its a 351m. Thanks!
When i rebuilt my 400, i bought an engine bag from Summit. I put the motor on the stand and slipped it right over it. It's like a sleeping bag for your motor. It kept everythng nice and oily. It's sold in packs of 5 and runs $11.95. If your interested in it the part # is SUM-G1009-5 from www.SummitRacing.com
