I've gotta '90 f-250 351 5-speed and whenever i start off in second or bog it down even a little it feels like it misfires. its got platinum plugs it could that be it. i had a vacuum leak but fixed it and it still does it, the guy who had it before me took the smog pump off and plugged the hose running to the motor but not the pump housing at the bottom of the motor, i was wondering if that would cause it. please let me know cause my gas mileage reaaly sucks with it like this.
Sound to me maybe a dirty Cap and timing is not set right. I run a 4* advance of the factory time setting ( cause of the bigger tires and towing ). Re-Check your plug Gaps also.
I got rid of my smog pump and EGR valve system. Blocking both of them off with metal plates I cut with a 4" grinder.
It runs a little richer but it's less stuff to cause possible problems.
Like a stuck open EGR valve, that will cause problems also. And a lean mixture.
The PCV hole in my intake is plugged also with brass pluming fittings from Home Depot.
All to often the PCV valve would cause to much of an internal leak to the intake.
I left the PCV in the cover and attaced a hose going down to the frame, so the crank case can still breath.
My turck dose run a little rich , but I can only think of 2 times I have ever had problems out of it, in 5 years. 1 was a TFI , and the other was the Battery.
I have lots of pictures of the mods I have done in my profile
