PMS, Powerstroke Modification Syndrome(it's a disease that one acquires after purchasing a powerstroke and becoming a member of FTE)

I'm not entirely sure about that. I find myself looking at exhausts and air intakes for a Powerstroke that I don't yet own. Anyone know a site to look at for truck sales other than www.bargainnews.com and www.autotrader.com ? I'd prefer not to deal with a stealership if at all possible.

i don't know about you powerstroker? but i dealt with a stealership and have not gotten ripped off. i think the key to getting a good deal is know what you are buying and know what the market is in your area, also hold out for what you want even if it takes a little longer. personally i like to drive a truck before i buy and would be very leery of buying anything out of a paper or off the web. I'd never buy anything without thoroughly looking it over in person and taking it for a drive. My brother found a truck on bargainnews and has had no issues with it. I'm not talking about buying it off there just locating it. You'd have to be an idiot to buy a truck without seeing it in person. I'm not a huge dealership fan though. They always want too much for what they have as compared to private sellers. A private seller will price the vehicle somewhere around reasonable and is genuinely looking to sell the truck. A dealer will be a total jerk and keep the truck on the lot for another 6 months just cause he won't knock 500$ off sticker. At least that's the experience I've had with my local blue oval dealerships.

man, that stinks about your local dealer we have bought two truck off our local dealer and they have been great, the first truck came down almost 1k and the 2nd truck came down 2k from their sticker plus a really good trade-in value. the second truck had tranny troubles from the day we brought it home so they replaced the tranny no questions asked. anyhow, good luck.

Alas I don't have 30,000$ to spend on a truck. I'm looking more in the 10-14k range and a dealer doesn't like going much below 14 on a good Super Duty whereas I have located an 01 DRW PSD with heated leather seats, crew cab, and power everything for about 12,500. If I went to my local dealer looking for a truck like that he'd tell me it was worth $18-20,000. The dealers out your way must be a lot different because the ones near me are total nut-jobs.
There is only one dealer that I know of in Connecticut that I have enjoyed being in and that was Interstate Ford in Hartford, but they don't do a lot of used and 40,000$ is not in the budget of a teenage kid. And I apologise to the starter of this thread for sorta hijacking it.
