Vans had a knock sensor, trucks and Broncos with the 5.0 did not.

Ok, I guess it's MY turn to be confused.

In my 85 F150(EFI), toward the bottom middle of the lower intake, drivers side, there was what I thought was a knock sensor. The 302 I installed from a 90 had a boss in the same location, but it wasn't drilled. Would this be an intake temperature sender then? The truck seems to run fine with this sensor in the console, and the harness left unplugged. There is another similar sensor nearby(present on both engines) but I don't remember where off the top of my head.

Drivers side under the aircleaner is the knock sensor and the IATemp sensor.
Are you sure there is a problem with the KS. You can test it with a multimeter.
If you do replace it pull out the IAT too and clean it off your computer will thank you
use alcohol to clean it!! Frank the 86 bronco most definately has a knock sensor and
more than likely the truck motor did also!!

Yes, I just found out some did and some didn't have the knock sensor. Sorry about that. You will get a code sometimes from the knock sensor if you do not do the goose test correctly. You will get a signal that tells you to open the throttle wide open for a second. And sometimes if you still get a knock sensor code, you have to take a small hammer and peck against the exhaust manifold to make the code go away.

What is the IAT sensor? There is a ECT(engine coolant temperature) and a ACT(air charge temperature). Here's some pictures of the sensors.

Not to hijack the thread, but should I drill the boss and install the knock sensor in my 85? It seems fine without it, and the emissions light seems happy(only comes on briefly @ startup).
