I am looking for an overhead console for my 98 F150 for no other reason than mainly to sort of update it. I would like to have a little exta storage (although I know they dont provide much) and I also like the looks of them. But I am having trouble finding one ANYWHERE!!! I have looked on ebay and all kinds of other places. Could I not use one from an Expedition from the same year or any other similar vehicle from the same time period? --------------will accept any other advice or opinions!!
Mounting it will be the biggest problem, I bought an Explorer with temp and direction read out a few years back and just never came up with a good way to mount it. As far as I know the F150's didn't get an overhead option until at least '99 so there isn't anything in the headliner to bolt one to pre '99.
I have a complete setup from an Explorer in Grey. It has the mounting plate and wiring harness with it. I also have a wiring instruction paperwork. I was going to try to put in my 2003 SuperDuty but am going to do something different. Let me know if you are interested.
Junk Yard best way to go. Installed one in my 97 F250 LD. Everything came out of a 01 F150 including headliner. The only thing I had to do was drill 2 small holes above the windshield, and run the harness, the hardest part will be hooking up the speed sensor wire to correct the temp reading, I haven't done that yet. Have to figure out where the speed sensor hook up is on the 97. But I will get to it in the spring. Too COLD now.
sorry for the late reply, but no, I have not tried a junk yard...the closest one is not exactly close. But i would like to pay a visit to one before long (for more than one reason).
