[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Aug-02 AT 11:06 PM (EST)]gas milage? you kid me, actually its not bad but i have a 3.00 final drive in the car. its about 8-12mpg.
the 4v heads work fine with the 2.19 i ran the cr up to 11.7 and we mix our home brew gas. the block was already notched, came like that from the factory. every 400 i have seen was like that.
i think with the larger valves ill run into the problem if them hitting or locking open.
the best part of the build is racing it. Mr. Windsor dude, who said that the 400 is a dog, and no matter what i do it still is a dog. All i heard after the race, was damn that thing moves. when i popped the hood all he saw was 351 4V premium fuel on the air box. then i told him that this was a 400. he no longer wants to play.
if that's got a C6 on it, how high is your stall?
how high do you shift?
if it's a manual, do you have a dyno graph?
just wondering "where" the power is...
also, is the weiand the only intake you've had on it, or have you tried several and it did best?
that's a 351c 4v intake with adapters, right?
also wondering how a torker or parker intake would do.
Hey GT40man, is that 495hp on a dyno? Or is that a desktop dyno? Big difference you know. I thought my 380hp 400 was doing pretty good. I started with the Hot Rod Magazine buildup and went from there. I only have a 268 cam with 10:1 pistons though. I used Dynomax headers, and they bolted right up. It pulls like a raped ape right off of idle up to 5200rpm. Dan
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-Aug-02 AT 01:30 PM (EST)]the hp figure is what the engine shop told me it made. race shops are weird, they dyno it but i no get to see the slip. a friend had his chibby built there, he has about 10:1 cr and "a good cam".
i looked at all the intakes and the weiand did the best on paper, so its all i have used. right now we are running a 2200-2400 stall and its with an auto. we dont do a lot of manual shifting, leting the tranny do it. i have raced it like 4 times, 3 against ricers and once agains Mr. Windsor. it makes peak power at 6k and torque at 4500. it has like 400+ torque from 2200-5200 rpm.
i tok the wife for a ride, she kept yelling at me to slow down. then i let her drive,45sec burnout at the light. it was funny, she was riding the breaks the whole way home.
