I'm looking at getting a Powerstroke. I've found an 01 dual rear wheel 7.3L with an automatic trans that is within my price range. The only thing is I don't know what type of fuel milage it gets. I've had someone say to me that a single rear truck like that will get over 16 mpg highway, but I just don't believe those numbers.
What would you guys expect to get with a truck like I described above? (no loads or trailers)
welcome to FTE..16 MPG for SRW is a good ## for around town driving..i get that playing hard with my truck...not sure on a DRW though....id guess there very close to the same..
My drw is lucky to average 12.5 MPG with mixed driving. I have a 4.10 rear and that has a lot to do with lower economy. The trucks with the 3.5 or 3.7 should get noticably better economy, epecially at highway speeds.
Thanks, guys! Guess a Powerstroke is better on fuel than I thought it would be. If I do end up buying the truck you can expect me to be a regular around here.
I get 15-16 mpg with winter blend fuel and about 1 mpg better in the summer. That is a mix of about 50-50 city and highway driving.
I just got back from a 300 mile trip to get a load of hay. Pull emty 3400 lb. trailer down and 21,350 lbs. gross weight on the return trip and hand calculated 12.8 mpg. I was really happy with that.
what in the world are you guys doing? with two different PSD we are only getting at best 11-13.5 mpg thru the hills of KY towing 6k about 40% of time. both trucks are running an edge evo set on 80hp tow one with the AIS and the other with K&N and zoodad.
Even if that is the case then it's still almost the same as the F-150s I had been looking at. Better off getting a real truck with 1.5 mpg less than one of the little pissers.

Thats what I was thinking. I only get 13 no matter what I'm doing, towing or city driving.
i don tknow i have a 3.73 and f250 4x4 crewcab and i went up north on a 600 mile trip and i avged liek 16.5 hand calc.. thats in winter oing 70 at 2000 rpms i thought that was great compared to my old 2500 chebby 6.0 that only got 13.5 on the highway
i wonder if it has anything to do with trying to hit 80mph on the hills in the truck lanes trying to pass people? anybody have any thoughts or have similar experiences?
