Ideas for gun lock

I have one of these locks www.freepatentsonline.com/<wbr>7047771.html

I am going to mount either an AR or an 870 (or my high standard 18-7) and am looking for suggestions on where to mount it in a Crew cab where it will be easily accessible, not in the way or hideously placed. All are shortish barrels, the ar is a 16" and the shotguns are both 18" barrels.

My ideas so far are just in front of the middle seat, and vertical on the back bulk head next to the seat. I can't put it infront of the back seat because my emergency kit/first aid kit/change of clothes stays so I would have to find a new place for all that kit if I put it there.

Any other ideas? Ideally I would like access to it from either side, and front or back would be really nice. I had thought about roof mounting it, but I can't think of a clean way to do it.

just wondering, why would you even want to keep one of those guns in your truck? or is this just for transporting?

its hard to get a clear picture of it by reading, any pics of it?

Here's the manuf's site http://www.santacruzgunlocks.com/ins...5_install.html

My dad's truck is the only truck I have seen one mounted in. His SO truck is an 05 F150 extended cab. The back seat was removed for the computer and he put the SO's shotgun vertically on the back wall like I was walking about. Just the extended cab is so much smaller than my F250 crew cab that I don't think it will be very convenient.

Well, I usually ride with at least a rifle in the truck, and it would be nice for it to be secured and out of the way rather than just riding on the pass seat. I like having a long gun for the extra reach over a pistol, armadillos are one thing, but I want a good bit of distance from a skunk or coyote.

Well you could always mount it right behind the driver seat grantit it wouldnt be very reachable from the passanger side. I also saw a gun rack in a magazine before that mounts on the back of the front seats, which would allow reachability almost anywhere in the vehicle. I'll see if I can find that mag so I can send you a pic.

That gives me a good idea I hadn't though of before. Vertically next to/behind the pass seat. It will clear all of my junk, be next to where I keep my shooting bag and be pretty handy.
