AOD shift linkage disassembly?

Allright, i need to disassemble the under truck shift linkage on an 86 f-150 302/AOD. i got the linkage from the column to the z bar out, and the linkage from the z bar to the trans.

But for the life of me I can't get the z bar out. is there anyway to just "pop" it out, or do I have to unbolt the two bolts that hold the bracket to the top of the frame?

There are two pivots points. Engine side (inner) / Frame side (outer).

Remove the two nuts that attach the bellcrank's outer pivot to the frame rail.

The outer pivot is part of the bellcrank, it's not removable according to the illustration in the parts catalog (A72 / Page 8).

A Z bar is another name for a clutch equalizer bar.

So the nuts have to come off, no way to pop it out?

That's not how the parts catalog illustration shows it.

The outer pivot is part of the bellcrank, it's not a separate piece like it would be on a manual transmission where you have removable pivots inner/outer on the clutch equalizer (Z) bar.

Well it doesn't matter now since I got everything done without taking the piece out. But when you're up under there it is definitely two seperate pieces, the linkage rides in a rubber bushing in the bracket.

I just couldn't see the back side of it to determine if there's a cotter pin, nut, flare, whatever on the back holding it all together.
