Throttle Body Injection swap

What all does it take to switch over to throttle body injection from a carb setup? Do you have to buy a different manifold or does it bolt up to the same manifold the carb does? Is there any wiring you have to do? A friend of mine has a 1984 F-150 with a 351W out of a 69 mustang with a weighand intake on it and is thinking about changing over to throttle body injection and wants me to help him. He hopes that it will start better and make better mileage. He currently averages about 9 mpg.

Any info would be much appreciated.

I have seen some TBI units that bolt to the manifold like a carb, similar to the GM setup. A lot of aftermarket kits come with a new manifold that has injectors though.
