I've upgraded my valvebody to increase fluid flow and for much firmer shifts.
I run a Gregg Evans built Factory Tech 4C valvebody.
Chirps the tires on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts at half throttle.
You can install one yourself in about 30 minutes.
Brian builds the toughest 4R100. There's no doubt about that. His price includes pulling the worn Box and rebuilding it with you right there. He'll explain everything in the build as he does it right in front of you. Then installs it back into the vehicle. Best warranty too.
I just got very bad experience about bts.
They promissed make tranny on three weeks. After 6 weeks I start asking by e-mail what is wrong and why the tranny is not ready. I didnt got any answer. Next I send little more thought worded e-mail and got answer " We are obviously not a good enough company for you to be dealing with. Maybe you should find someone else." No explain why I had wait 6 weeks and then they didnt send tranny at all. My ex was on carage all the time and matter a fact it is still there. Maybe next week we will get tranny builded. I had heard lots of good about BTS and their custom service. Anyhow was very disappointed about way they act. Maybe others have had better luck with them.
If you are looking for a tranny for a 7.3 diesel.... BTS is probably the best. I have never heard of anyone having a bad experience or worried about warranty work... There is no stage I, II or whatever crap...they are all built for whatever you can throw at it...and if it brakes they will fix it no questions asked...
I don't know what happened with your situation but that is unlike BTS... He has quite a waiting list and people driving from all around to have them install it for them...

In SoCal, there is NONE better than John Wood Automotive.
I drove my Excursion down to John back in December (do a quick search using my name and you'll find my thread) and had him install one of his custom built transmissions, upgrade my trans cooler to a 6.0L PSD, and wire up a torque converter lock-up switch.
No offense to Dante, because he's a helluva mechanic, but his tranny's are a far second best compared to JW. In fact, my buddy Stan, who works for DMP, was gonna come with me to JW's shop when I had my tranny built so he could see first-hand some of the custom machining JW does to make his built 4R100 one of the best anyone can buy. The last time I talked with Dante, he didn't do any custom machining or lathe work, like JW does.
JW is the go-to man for all the guys racing in the desert using the 4R100 in their trucks.
In my opinion, if you're on the west coast, there is no question JW is the best. If you're on the east coast, then BTS is the choice.
