Hey guys,
I'm about ready to crush this truck if I can't figure this out. I've got an 86 f-150 with the 302 EFI. I was having some problems with the ignition and fuel pumps and I thought I got them squared away. Well I guess not. THe other day I was driving home and the truck died. I checked to see if the fuel pumps were running and they weren't. I was going to change the frame rail pump but I pulled it and tested it and it was fine. So i figured it was something electrical. I checked the ground to the batt and it was bad so i fixed that. Pumps working again. BUT.....BUT now it won't start. I sprayed some ether to see if it would fire and nothing......I had ignition problems before and I replaced the coil, cap and rotor, plugs, wires, and the control module. I also fixed some shabby wiring. After all of that she ran fine.....until the other day. Well, I checked to see if it was getting spark and it is at the coil and at the plugs. It just won't fire. I have no ides where to go from here. Is there some dummy switch i'm missing? Can anyone help me?
any motor needs air, fuel, spark, timing and compression to run.has your fuel filter been changed? it is also possible that you might have a weak coil.it could also be that your fuel injectors are clogged.
The coil is new and the fuel filter appears to be newer. I just don't get wny it won't fire off starting fluid. It ran fine until the fuel pumps quit due to a bad ground.
