Fuel milage

I have a question regarding fuel milage. I have a 2001 xlt f-150 crew cab with the 4.6 triton and 3.73 limited slip rear with tow package. I only average 15 to 16mpg. First question how much if any better mpg is there if i had stuck with the stock 3.55 rear end. I have also added k & n air filter & gibson dual sport exhaust. Second question is there anything else i can do to try and imporove milage.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Dec-01 AT 00:39 AM (EST)]The mileage you're getting may be in the right range for your setup. I have a 2002 F-150 supercrew with the 4.6L engine, and a 3.55 limited slip. Also, I have installed a K&N air filter. Right now, I have about 3000 miles on the vehicle, and average about 17.5 miles to the gallon running mostly on the highway. I have read elsewhere in this forum that mileage may improve by a couple of miles per gallon after several thousand miles of break in time. How many miles do you have on your truck now?

By the way, do you see an improvement in hp and response time with the K&N filter?

Fuel milage

I have approx. 12,000 miles and have not not had any increase in milage ( i got 17mpg on 400 mile trip all freeway driving).I have noticed a slight performance icrease since adding k & n filter but i added it with only about 1,000 miles on the truck and have not noticed any mpg increase. there does not seem to be any added hp on taking off from dead stop but seemed to make a differance on high end (mostly with pedal all the way down and in passing gear). which is what i seem to do a lot, but driving like that i get the 15mpg so i do since driving opposite only gets me 16mpg. also does yours have a lmiter on top speed i have pleanty of power but hate it when i hit 95mph and cant go no more (epecially when a dodge or chevy keeps going on and blast by me. it almost seems a waste to have the modifications that i have and not get better mpg or be able to use full power potential.
