Starting issues

I have an 01 F250 with 5.4 Gas. It has 107k miles, with auto transmission. Over the past year or so, typically in colder weather (but has happened in dead summer) I have an issue with it starting.

One out of every 50 or so starts (never really counted, but its probably once a month or so) I turn the key forward, it starts, but dies immediately. Sometimes when I try to restart, it does the same thing, other times it fires right up.

Often when it happens, once I get it started, it idles really low and rough. If I try and drive it, whenever I come to a complete stop it dies. (If I absolutely HAVE to go somewhere, I neutral shift and give it a little gas at lights). Once it warms up (the only thing I can think of) it idles up to normal and the issue goes away.

Anything you can think of, would be greatly appreciated!

(by the way, I read other posts about cruise issues, and tried the cruise diagnosis, and mine was the pressure switch. You guys saved me a TON from taking it into the dealer)

sounds like a bad IAC valve. Also check for vacuum leaks.

Ditto the Idle Air Control valve. It will get worse and with 107k miles, "it's time".It's a simple repair, usually only two bolts and an electrical connector.
