vacuum gauge

What was the deal with dash mounted vacuum gauges on these old trucks, they seem pretty popular?

Mine is a 360 4 speed F250 4x4.

What's that vacuum gauge good for?

At one time people watched them to help get better mileage. The lower the vacuum the more fuel you are using.

i have one and helps when tunning your idle speed,mine idels at 800rpm and the vacuum gauge reads 19.

They also come when you replace your stock dash cluster with a f-600 cluster. I like the round gauges better than the plastic stock one.
