Can't shift into gear
I replaced the pressure plate, clutch disc, slave cylinder, and the hyd. line that
goes from the cluthch master cylinder to the slave cylinder. After bleeding the
unit I started the truck up. I cannot get the transmission to go into gear. I'm
certain that I bled the unit good. There is one other thing. Before removing the
tranny I removed the stick shift by removing the three screws that hold it down onto the tranny from the top. I then pulled the stick up and out. I'm wondering if something could have happened to the tranny like getting out of sync or something. I can shift it into gear with out the engine running but not with it running. I'm puzzled cause I replaced the pressure plate and disc once before and I had no problems. One more thing. The tranny was working fine before I replaced these parts.
First thing I would check would be the hydraulic system, since you had parts of that replaced. Even with what one might think to be a thorough bleeding, I speak from experience that there are times that you think you have all the air out that you don't.
I doubt it's anything to do with the shifter, since you can get it in/out of gear while the engine is off. It's most likely an issue dealing with the clutch system.
A little more info about which 5-speed you have would help with a diagnosis as well. There are differences between them, such as the ZF using an external slave cylinder, while the Mazda one uses an internal.
Keep us posted to what you find though, and good luck!
