I've had pretty good luck with the Uniden and Cobra base model CB's, I think I have a Cobra 29XL. They usually run about $50 and can be purchased almost anyplace that sells electronics. Just make sure you get a good antenna. You will do better with a cheap radio and a good antenna than with an expensive radio and a cheap antenna.

I'm getting a cb for my '85 from radio shack. CB's look right at home on these trucks....they are so '80's!

if you get the chance take it to a cb shop and have it peaked and tuned, you'll get much better performance out of it.

and as previously stated DONT skimp on the antenna, it will make all the difference.

I've seen a number of them in thrift stores such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. I bought my 40 Ch. Panasonic in perfect condition complete with original box, manual, mounting bracket and screws for $10 at Goodwill. Bought a 40 Ch. GE at a yard sale for $2.50 but I never have hooked it up to see if it works. Bought a couple of nice antennas on ebay where you can find just about anything you could want in CB.

I know my dad has a bunch laying around in the garage. He always had them in his trucks. I know he has some kickin antennas also. I may find one and put it in my truck one of these days....
