my ex-co worker just called me, he sais his uncle who flies for a private company out of st pete clearwater airport, went down over the atlantic last night.....obviously no word from him, but they have search crews out looking for him. i guess he flies frequently to germany, he retired from the airlines last year and does this work on the side.. ironically he was having a conversation 3 days ago with my coworkers father, saying he probably wont be here very long, because the planes didnt seem like they were in great condition
I won't drive a truck if I feel it is unsfe and have quit jobs because they didn't care for their truck(brakes, frame cracks bald tires) I most definately wouldn't get in a plane if I had any inkling the maintenece schedule wasn't kept or if it was fudged in any way!!
They specify when things should be replaced or repaired for a reason. It is the opertors responsibility to check and deem their vehicle to be safe (trucks, boats, helis
and planes) It is all the same, especially if you are transporting passengers. I wanted to get my captains license but after reading into some of the things I just decided not
to, same goes for the heli, I hear that commercial about heli pilot training and I get all
yeah I want to do that. Then I think back to some companies I worked for and think
hmmmm I wonder if there are some heli companies that fudge their inspections too?
got some updates, actuallythe uncle is flying new planes to germany for delivery. he was flying a new pa28, out of iceland to germany. supposedly theres 20-30 ft waves and thats hindering the search.

A friend of mine is friends with this lady, whose husband was in the business of
flying small aircraft to and from destinations for customers.
He had many ditches in the ocean and survived them all, except for the last one.
Apparently he must have been knocked unconscious and sank with the plane.
All the C.G. could do was watch.
A lot of these planes he flew were used and most likely not in good condition.
