Ok, this is my 2nd expedition with LLS issues, both happened around 100k so I guess it is expected. On my previous expy I converted it and loved it, but this time $$$$ is a major issue. Right now my compressor isnt kicking on and the back of my truck is on the bumpers. I was brainstorming with some friends and we were wondering if anyone has just disconnected the airlines to the compressor and hooked up fittings to make it a manual system. Because money is such an issue, I dont care if I lose the automatic adjustments. Basically it would end up being like the old air shocks I had on my 70's Camaro back in the day, hook up to an air compressor and adjust the ride height. This is my only vehicle and I dont have a lot of time to monkey with it either.
Your help and advice would be very much appreciated.
There is an aftermarket company online offering a kit for back-up operation. It has a schroeder valve as used on your tire nipples and some tube and fittings. It hooks up under the hood at a tee joint I believe that is located near the brake master cylinder. Sorry but I don't have the details of the supplier or their website. Hope you can search or someone else may know.
I have only read this on here, but some one disconnected the union that is by the brake master cylinder and used a ball pin like for blowing up a basket ball stuck it in the line to blow it up. Then when it gets to correct hight turn the switch located in the passanger kick panel to off. Another thing to try is to jumper the relay for the compressor to get the compressor to kick in if its not broke. The company that has the manual fill part is American Air Suspension. The little air valve is called the spider.
I just drove it on my lunch and the compressor kicked on after two days of not working. I put it in 4 lo let the air bags fill and then turned off the system. I hope the gives me some time.
