Bought a 91F2504x4
Can anyone tell me what axles and transfer case are in it? It is a 351W automatic. The **** off the transfer case is missing, and I am wanting to know the shift pattern. Also the front has big hubs like a Dana60.
Whats wrong with it is the engine has a tick, and low oil pressure. And the two front tires lean in on a bit of slant. The body is real good shape.
Not sure if I should try to fix the engine and front end or not. What do you guys think?
Also what are some good/bad points about these trucks. I have a 68/77.5 F250 4x4 right now and this is my first fuel injected vehical.
If its got overdrive, its an E40D, no overdrive C6
Ball joints might be the cause of the leaning tires
By low oil pressure, are you using a mechanical oil pressure guage, or the stock one, because the stock one is nothing more than a dummy light, because I know for a fact my '87 has 50psi of pressure, but the stock guage reads low.
Not sure about the tick, a mechanic's stethoscope might come in handy for hunting that booger down
As far as being your first fuel-injected vehicle, you picked one of the best to have. I would much rather work on my '87 than any carb vehicle, because fuel injection either works or doesn't (most of the time), unlike a carb which seems like it can't ever be dialed in right.
And for the transmission.... The dash has 1 2 and D with a _ under it, whichj would make me think overdrive. But there only seems to be three gears, shifting manually or letting it shift by itself. So Im not sure if the tranny has been swapped or what.
I am going to check the front end out this weekend once its in the garage. I will see what I can all find out with the leaning of the tires. What other possibilities could it be other then ball joints?
The engine will be the toughest thing.... There is an aftermarket oil pressure guage hooked up, and when it was started in the cold, it had about 25-30 PSI, but once the engine had warmed up it was down to 0, and even driving on the highway (i put a 24 hour permit on it and drove it home) the pressure was only about 5 PSI.
Do you know the shift pattern for the transfer case?
