My weekend fun!
Hey, guys!
I had a busy weekend with the truck! I have a '79 F-150 2WD that had a 460 in it. The 460 was knocking pretty bad, and I couldn't afford a full rebuild. I ended up finding a truck with a decent running 351M in it for $180 a couple of weeks ago. This weekend we swapped the engines.
This was my first swap, but I had my older brother there who's done this a few times. He's a Chevy guy, but by the end of the weekend I actually had him admitting that the Ford wasn't a bad rig to work on.
Everything went fairly smoothly. After about 12 hours of wrenching, we got the 351 in and mounted, but it's not all of the way hooked up yet. It's bolted to the engine mounts and the tranny is loosely bolted on but that's it. I still have to connect the exhaust and all of the hoses, wires and cables.
I don't have any questions (yet), but I expect to very soon. You guys have been great so far, I don't think I'd have gotten this far without you!
Oh -- anyone want to buy a complete 460 (needs rebuild, obviously) and a C6 tranny? I'm in MN.
