Has anyone replaced the manual A/C controls with the digital climate control one? Is it just a plug and play replacement, or are other parts needed? I know it needs temperature sensors, but are they already there or will I have to add them? Thanks.
I have yet to see/hear of anyone successfully making this conversion. This is due largely to the fact that no one has successfully reverse engineered the full system to figure out all of the required components.
Some of the previous discussions regarding this conversion include talk about needing an entire HVAC core, the EATC control unit (or head unit, as it is often called), whatever mechanisms control the damper doors (many arguments on this revolving around electric motors vs. vacuum), and then several theories on whether or not the PCM itself plays a role in all of this.
Best I can offer is to do some searching, and a hearty good luck.
I was interested in this upgrade also. I called several of the dealerships around the area (just to get a consistant answer) and was given a 100% you can't do it without ripping out the whole system and rebuilding it with the digital stuff...
