Hey guys/girls, Have a '97 F-150 4x4 but not very fond of the front bumper. I was wondering what the best alternative is. I've heard that an Expedition bumper looks good, but i dont know what year. Any suggestions or help would be great. Thanks.
I'd suggest picking up a free LMC catalog, if nothing else for the diagrams. They will show the differences between the '97-'98 and the '99-'03 front ends. The Expy's should have the same bumper as the F150's. I personally think the '97 and '98 bumpers looked better but the '99 grilles look better with the little drop at the bottom. You could have a '99+ bumper with a '97 grille but it would look a little weird IMO, but you could not have a '99+ grille with a'97 bumper.
I thought I had some pictures of my old stock front end but none that are visible. I am sure plenty of people will post that can show both front ends.

You can put a '99 grille on a '97-'98 bumper, but you'll have to loosen the mounting bolts for the bumper and drop the bumper a little. You can buy the '99 and up front end off of ebay for $400 or so plus shipping, or you can piece it together also. But the '99 and up bumper will fit your brackets. And like galaxie said, the expy and f150 bumpers are the same. Just make sure you get a 4x4 bumper if you have 4x4, or 4x2 if you have 4x2, the mounts are different.
