I have started on the driver side. I have the valve cover off and am trying to remove the oil, the best I can, on top of the glow plugs. No matter how hard I try there is still a little left. How important is getting all the oil off of the plug so that it does not get in the hole? Will it hurt anything if it does? I have used a baby dropper and a little syringe with a little hose connected to it. I need help!
When I did mine I didn't worry about it what little bit that you will get in there will burn off. If you where changing injectors thats a different story thats a lot of oil and will hydroloc the engine.
Just make sure that all your wiring is not rubbing on the pushrods or rockers and while you in there I would make sure all the rocker pedistals are tight and same with the injectors.
If you are going to be working on your super duty PSD, go get some torque wrenches. Cheap ones are better than nothing but good ones are worth the cost. I bought some name brand torque wrenches off e-bay for not much more than what Harbor Freight ones cost and am very satisfied with them. We just did glow plugs and injectors and started to snug everything down with the socket wrench. Then checked with the torque wrench and had to loosen some because they were too tight. It is really hard to guess torque accurately. I'm not saying that what you are doing is wrong. It is just best to be sure.
