97 F150 Questions

Son got a 97 F150 4x2 with the 4.6L engine and automatic trans. It has about 190,000 miles on it but the motor and the tranny were rebuilt at about 120000 miles. Don't know a thing about the 4.6 except what I've read a little here that they aren't very powerful, but in his case that is probably a plus.
What kind of things should I be expecting to look out for on something like this and how reliable are they. It does have power windows which seems to be a little bit of problem from what I've read. Was told that I'd probably ought to plan on changing wires and plugs on it also. It doesn't look like a real easy access to the plugs so is one brand better and any advice on what to make it easier?
Any info would be appreciated since I have no experience on this engine or a truck this new.

The 4.6 in the 97s are the first of the MODULAR V8s to make it into a truck.
It should provide a few more years of reliable service for your son.
The chassis on these trucks are straight forward and require the usual care you would do to any vehicle - periodic inspections and lube work.

Use Motorcraft(Autolite) plugs and wires
Motorcraft motor oil
Motorcraft oil filters
Motorcraft air filter
Replace fuel filter in not done recently.
Replace the serp. belt if it has not been done recently.
Goodyear Gatorbacks seem to work well, but you can use the Motorcraft part too.

Use a DAB of antiseize on the new sparkplugs (threads) for ease of removal later.
