Need a place to start
This one has me stumped, so please bear with me.
97 PSD with factory alarm. I lost the parking lights so I changed the headlight switch. Still had the ground but drove it home during the day and I got the fuel filter light. Changed the fuel filter and cleared a ground on the running board lights. While buttoning up from ground, the dash LED for the alarm quit blinking and now starter is disabled. Bypassed the starter disable, and was able to run/drive the truck, but almost immediately got the fuel filter light again, and then it ran out of fuel. Checked the fuel bowl - it is full. It won't start now. When I crank the motor, I get white smoke so I think it is sending at least some fuel. I am thinking that I have more than one problem at the same time, so I am removing the factory alarm to reset everything to a simpler condition, but I need some advice on where to look after that. Please help!!
