I was just wondering if anybody could help me figure out this problem, I just bought a 1986 ford bronco and have had nothing but problems with it, It first started driving home one night and it started sputtering and died, I towed it home and replaced the fuel pump and filter it was running fine. I took it over to have the emissions done (and it passed) went out to start it and nothing, finally got it home and it died in my drive way and now i cant start it at all. It wants to start and if it does it dies as quickly as it started Please help
if you know that the cyl. are getting fuel, then start checking for spark. start simple...plugs, rotor, dist cap, wires, and ignition module. three things to make a gas engine run. fuel, spark, compression.
Gas line dryer 2 of heet and 2 of iso heet. Don't do anything just dump it in whatever is in the tank and run it until 1/8 tank or so. You could pull the filter and refill it with
heet and reinstall so the rail gets a good ratio of it. Water sitting on the rail will do
this since it gets to a point where it is blocking the injector and then when it sits for a
bit it drops back down(heavier than gas) into the filter and then you get a few more miles until it builds up. $8.00 will cure this problem I hope it needed the tune up or
it is a waste of money!! Only replace wires if they are out of spec(5000 ohms/foot)
or they are cracked or corroded. I would hold onto the module for a back up if you do
end up replacing it.
