Popping Noise

Question to the masses. What causes a popping noise when I decelerate at low rpm? Only seems to happen when its cold. I have a 2005 F350 Powerstroke.

If it pops right after you let go off the throttle, it's normal, called a turbo fart.

Thanks for the quick reply. My first turbo and have only had it a week, so everything is new. I plan on using it to pull a 4-horse trailer and get a little nervous when I read some of the other comments. The dealer told me that the problem is related to the air filter. The mfg filter does not have this problem, only after market filters. Have you heard this before?

Is it common for "turbo farts" to not be consistent? Like I said before, only seems to happen at start-up?

Turbo fart is consistent, its true that you can hear it more with an aftemarket intake but it is still happening with the factory air box and filter. It usually occurs when you are getting into the throttle then quickly let off, all that air needs to go somewhere and it comes back out the air intake
