Welcome to FTE shepherds56. Basically... Ford typically cuts their yearly production into 'Jobs'. Most years, you get two Jobs (the first one runs from Late Julyish-January, and the second from January-ish to June or so). This year, because Ford launched the "08" model VERY early in 07, they segmented a third "job". These job builds can reflect slight model revisions (mechanical, appearance, or otherwise). It is how Ford maintains their continuous improvement model through a single model year.

Thanks for the info, do dealers know or tell you what job build their trucks are? Do you need to ask?

Actually, not all salesmen know the difference, (sad to say). My salesman didn't have any idea what the Job 1 or 2 was. When I eventually picked up my truck, he asked me if I had ever found out. He still didn't know 2 months later. I explained it to him and think I lost him about half way through the explanation. Seems 2me that particular Ford store should spend a bit more time on their continuing education program. This person had 5 years on the sales floor and was supposed to be the internet sales manager. Of course he couldn't explaine the regen cycle either. Go figure. The easiest way to tell the difference visually between Jobs 1 and 2 is the larger front air dam below the bumper. Job 2 having the larger one. Haven't seen a 3 yet so can't tell you what visual clues are there.
