I just wanted to let everyone know i just ordered my first new truck ever; 2008 FX2, Black, ext. cab, leather, etc. However I'm a little upset at Ford! When i went to the dealer several weeks ago they had an 07 with those ever sweet 20" wheels and tires. I decided despite the great deal it better to order an 08 exactely how i wanted. I really wanted the 20's and the sales men said no prob. When i returned 2 days later w/ my dad i reviewed the sales sheet and noted that the 20's were stated as "painted!" These were not the same wheels as on the 07. Long story short the wheels i wanted are now offered only on FX4......Being a simple guy i naturally assumed Ford would simply put the FX4 wheels on my FX2, afterall they put them on the FX2 in 07. WRONG! The dealer would do nothing for me.Said i needed FX4, i dont want an FX4 I only wanted some wheels!! Now i'm forced to find take-off's on Ebay spending money out of my pocket!! This really bothers me, Ford claims to have the most options, accessories, configurations, etc, yet they wont put the wheels i want on my truck when they offered them the prev. year!! This is a 33K truck!!!!!! Sorry just venting! That aside, it'll be a sweet truck!!!

 

Maybe find another dealer that will do the swap for you? He probably doesn't want to do it so he can sell the FX4 easier. Our dealers around here are always putting after market wheels on their trucks, I would push him a little harder and see if he's willing to compromise. Maybe split the cost. If he really wants the sell, he should be willing to help you out. 33K is a lot of change! Also check out newtakeoffs.com. I think that's the correct site. They sell new takeoffs when the owners want aftermarket wheels/tires.

 

Well, I know this really isn't the proper area in the forum but I will be selling my 20's here probably in the beginning of March when I get my new wheels in.. Let me know if your interested, that way neither of us will have to deal with the hassle of ebay.

honestly, I'll bet that dealer had slapped the FX4 20's on the 07 your looking at. most dealers are like that.

I understand your pain, but if it can't be ordered that way, the dealer is like a lemming looking at a tempting cliff

I've owned the total of 5 trucks and this is my first Ford. I've owned 3 CHCHCH...evys and 2 Dead Or Dying Garage Equipment and the Ford, by far, is one of the best trucks I've owned.

Havn't even got the truck yet! She's 8 weeks out as of yesterday!! I can't wait though!!

And the dealer didn't put those wheels on the 07. they were optional last year. This year they swapped them over to the FX4, i think they just want people to buy more FX4's!!!

 

So they are just the factory ford 20''s and they cant put them on your truck because they arent available for the FX2 anymore. Why? Do they only make the FX2's with FX2 18''s on them now?

 

No, you can get the FX2 with "New" 20's. They're just different from last years. Ford took the 20's from last years FX2 and put them on the FX4 and came out with new 20's for the FX2!! You would think they would just do a simple wheel swap! I was even willing to give them more money for the trouble!

 

I would not say it is as much Fords problem is it is with your dealer. If you let the dealer know you wanted those wheels, when they realized the design changed (or what not what you were looking at) he should of contacted you. Also that he did not want to help you in anyway with getting the ones you wanted. That to me is just poor customer service on the dealers end.

Edit: I have heard very good things about the "New Take Off" website above. I will see if I find anything else and let you know.

 

the new fx2 wheels look like mustang wheels imo..and they look smaller than the polished 20s....i want factory 20s also
